Club night summary – 18th June
This week we held our end of season party awards night, the annual opportunity to celebrate the creative work produced by our talented members throughout the season.
A very different end of season awards night held online through Zoom. Normally the successful authors would be physically presented with trophies and certificates for achievements in the various categories. This year the awards were announced alongside an excellent slide show of each successful members Images, including a panel of representative Images for league success.
This season we had three leagues to highlight, with promotions from both newcomers and Intermediate leagues into the advanced league. All leagues were competitively fought throughout the season with a very close points tally at the top of each league separating the ultimate winners.
Authors were Invited to comment on their most successful prints or PDI Images, during the evening, sharing details of their outstanding work as their Images were displayed.
The actual presentation of Trophies and certificates will be held once we return to our hall at the community centre, hopefully in September.
The night also featured the members choice award chosen from highest scoring PDI’s produced during this season. In addition there was another challenge set for the members, to have the best Zoom background on the night to represent a ‘party’ this featured some great and Inventive visual offerings.
A full evening which also featured a review of the season covering life at the club before and after the current lockdown and a visual walkthrough of next season’s programme.
We were also pleased to confirm our exciting summer programme starting next week and every Thursday until the start of our new season on September 3rd. We will be meeting online with a ‘light’ more Informal programme of photography challenges and sharing discussions.
As always, further details of the awards and Images shown in the gallery are available on our website.

This week we had a really Inspiring presentation from John Humphrey with his ‘Creative photography’ talk.
John was a great communicator covering a number of different topics, which ranged from macro water drops, flower photography and his passion of pushing art boundaries with his abstract techniques. His delivery style and content was pitched perfectly, giving useful Information on how he created many of his stunning Images.
For those that couldn’t make the online Zoom presentation, good news, it has been recorded and is available to view in the members area of our website. I would highly recommend catching this presentation of this exceptional photographer and his skilful creative techniques.
It was also announced at the meeting that we will be continuing with Weekly Zoom meetings throughout the summer. This follows the memberships enthusiasm to keep in contact during this period, with a ‘light’ programme of photography challenges and weekly communications.
Next season’s programme will be published shortly, which will Include details of the summer meeting period.

Club night summary – 28th May
This week was our PDI of the year competition. Images that had scored 19 or 20 in competitions during this season. A great opportunity to view the very high standard produced by our members during the year.
Judge Dave Hipperson had the task to score and choose the winning Images. Unfortunately he could not attend the Zoom meeting on the night, but had requested the entries a few days before, so he could judge and score and produce critique comments to send along.
On the night Cat projected the Images and read the judges comments with scores.
Thank you to all members that had produced such excellent Images during the season and Congratulations to the ultimate winners of the competition.
It was an enjoyable evening concluding with the winners and commended authors giving Information about their Images asked by other members.
You can enjoy viewing the winning Images on our gallery.
