League Tables

I’ve added a new League Tables page to the website’s top menu. As requested by the membership I’ve made it password protected. I’ll ask Cat to send an email with the details.

To set expectations, this is just a screen grab of the scores spreadsheet, so it’s not particularly clear. Will think of a better presentation going forward, but wanted to get this out now as people have been asking for it!

Club night summary – 9th January

This week we hosted the 2nd round of the Rosebowl competition. Other competing teams visiting were Buckingham, Woodley and Witney along with our own representation of Images. There were a total of 60 Images shown for judge Peter Prosser to critique and score.

It was great to have such an array of really good Images shown and to appreciate the levels being achieved at other clubs. There were some really creative and well thought out Photography shown.

It was a high standard and understandably the scoring was very close, with most of the Images having already scored 19 or 20 in their own club competitions.

Our congratulations go to the ultimate winner on the night ‘Buckingham CC’.

Club night summary – 19th December

A fitting end to the year, celebrating Christmas with our annual seasonal social evening. A great night with a few quiz’s (thanks George), great food and drink (thanks Vanessa, Denise and Alan) and a Photography themed raffle ( thanks Rod and all that donated prizes).

A really good relaxed social evening with plenty of opportunity to talk together about our shared enjoyment from photography. We look forward to the second half of our season starting on 9th January 2020!

Merry Christmas to all
Steve

The victorious “God Knows” table – the night’s overall quiz winners!

Club night summary – 12th December

The main subject of this weeks meeting was to review the recently carried out members survey, where an opportunity was given to every member to give valuable feedback to Influence the running of the club. An excellent PowerPoint presentation was lead by Cat Humphries, reporting the responses to each category. Overall we had received very positive feedback from the survey regarding all aspects. All of the comments and additional ideas were welcomed and will be reviewed by the committee to ensure we have an all encompassing programme within the club.

The full details of the survey are available to read in our newsletter and will be shortly published on the website.

A good evening which was completed with a couple of excellent members Av’s shown to an appreciative audience.

Club night summary – 5th December

This season we joined the North West London Federation Inter Club Competition. Which selects a number of camera clubs to compete, Initially in a league of 3. Last night we hosted our third round at Croxley. We had visiting clubs Watford and Wycombe in the three way challenge which Involved both prints and pdi’s being shown. The Judge for the evening was the experienced Peter Prosser at the well attended event.

Some great Images were shown by all of the competing clubs. Unfortunately the points did not favour us on the night and in the final tally Watford cc were the overall winners. However valuable experience was gained for the club from entering this competition and we look forward to the fresh challenge next season.

Club night summary – 29th November

Our final PDI league competitions of the year, with ‘open’ and set subject ‘heat’ were held this week.

The competitions had another great response of entries with 111 Images initially put forward. In order to enable sufficient meaningful critique from our visiting Judge Steven Galvin, the numbers were reduced to 32 in the open and 29 in the set subject, a total of 61, giving each author their first choice in each competition.

The competitions provided some Interesting Images in particular the set subject with the various interpretations of ‘heat’.

It was great to see a number of our newer members scoring high in both competitions.

Studio Workshop Evening – BTS

This week Ant held the second of the beginners sessions on studio portraiture at West Herts College. Ant demonstrated using a “Beauty Dish” modifier to create evenly lit head and shoulder shots of our model for the evening Emily Miller

Gordon surprised as all by producing a violin at the end of the session to create some wonderfully creative images with Emily. Of course we could resist having a play on it and sadly I confirm there were no natural violinists amongst us!

A well attended and enjoyable evening and our thanks again to Ant for another superbly organised session.
